Plenty of relaxation and family entertainment are a short walk away as well as a wide range of water sports including kite surfing sailing paddle boarding and windsurfing. A short drive away is the charming medieval town of Rye home to quaint cobbled streets independent shops a Kino boutique cinema and some good antique shops in which to while away an afternoon browsing vintage finds. For those looking to venture slightly further afield Dungeness Nature Reserve offers big skies striking scenery and contemporary architecture plus a miniature steam railway. Visit Derek Jarman's coastal garden and buy fresh fish direct from the boats. There is an abundance of castles gardens and family attractions to visit within a short drive including Rye Citadel Rye Harbour nature reserve Bodiam Castle Great Dixter House and Gardens Port Lympe Safari Park and Lydd Aqua Park. Hastings Old Town and trendy St Leonard s are a half hour s drive away down the coast as is Folkestone with its growing public art trail and harbour arm food trucks.
