We do have strict guidelines for dog owners and they very rarely present a problem. We do ask all dog owners to adhere to these guidelines (failure to do so may result in you being asked to leave without compensation).

- Dogs must be under strict control at all times while on the property.
- Any fouling of lawns etc. must be cleaned up without delay.
- The owner must bring the dog?s bed or basket for sleeping in.
- Dogs must not be left alone in the property.
- Dogs must not lie on beds or chairs, and hair must be cleared up before departing.

About the property DETATCHED COTTAGE NESTLED IN HEREFORDSHIRE S SPECTACULAR GOLDEN VALLEY 10% DISCOUNT FOR COUPLES OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL HOLIDAYS This delightfully secluded cottage is well positioned to enjoy the very best of a remote rural escape and a haven for wildlife - (keep your eyes open for badgers hares foxes and squirrels to name a few). With the added benefit of the delights of our favourite book town of Hay on Wye nearby. You can walk right up onto Vagar Common straight from the cottage and enjoy the fabulous views and great running trails. The Black Mountains are within easy reach as is the Brecon Beacons National Park for a more strenuous days adventuring! Scores of pretty Herefordshire and Welsh Border villages to explore from a cycle ride to the local country pub in Dorstone to a tour around Abbey Dore. Arthur s Stone is a short drive away - an atmospheric Neolithic burial chamber made of great stone slabs hidden in the hills above Herefordshire s Golden Valley. Hereford is the nearest big shopping area with its impressive historic cathedral to explore. The accommodation offers THREE bedrooms: on the first floor 2 doubles. On the ground floor 1 generous single with adjoining bathroom. Bathroom: with shower over bath and WC. Separate WC with washing machine on the ground floor. Lounge: with woodburner (logs included) basic SkyTV and DVD. Kitchen/diner: with Aga gas hob microwave fridge freezer and access to the terrace. Outside: pretty private woodland garden with acres of fields to explore outside furniture available in summer. Amenities: ample parking. Bed linen towels electricity central heating and Wi-Fi included. Regret no smoking. 2 dogs welcome. Additional info: to reach the cottage the final 100 metres of the lane is bumpy and runs over a small brook. Arrival: 4pm Need to know SLEEPS 2- 5: Three bedrooms; two large double bedrooms and one downstairs single bedroom - recently extended to include an adjoining bathroom and French windows opening towards a picturesque brook. All rooms have pretty bed linen included. WHEN IT S JUST FOR TWO: There is 10% off when it s just two people staying (using one bedroom only) outside of school holidays (simply email us if you d like to check the dates). EATING: Country kitchen with oil fired Aga microwave (gas rings available if you prefer not to cook on the Aga) fridge freezer well equipped for baking and cooking. Large farm house table for dining with direct access out to the terrace. RELAXING: Large sitting room deep linen Loaf sofa and love seats Sky TV DVD DAB radio wi-fi. Wood burning stove with logs included. Full central heating throughout. KEEPING CLEAN: Family bathroom with bath power shower basin and loo. Downstairs cloakroom with loo washing machine and drying facilities. Brand new adjoining bathroom with shower loo and basin. Towels included. OUTSIDE: Pretty private fenced garden with acres of fields to explore outside furniture available in summer months and wild birds visiting year round. PETS: Two well behaved dogs are most welcome. They are asked to keep their paws mainly on the flag stone areas in the kitchen and hallway and definitely not on the lovely new Loaf sofa please. GOOD TO KNOW: Waitrose and Tesco will deliver to the property and there is a fabulous deli and Thursday market in Hay on Wye for stocking up on local produce too. There is babysitting available by private arrangement. ECO CREDENTIALS: The cottage uses eco-friendly cleaning products provides recycling facilities and has a clever gadget on the wood burning stove to ensure the sitting room is kept 20% warmer...toasty! ACCESS : Home on the Hill is wonderfully tucked away from all other properties. To reach the cottage the final 100 metres of the lane is bumpy and runs over a small brook. WI-FI : The wi-fi is via BT which is generally very reliable for emails and general web browsing it is not suitable for video streaming. HOME : When not being used as a holiday cottage Home on the Hill is just that Sophie s lovely home on the hill so there are a few more personal effects in the property than in our other holiday cottages. BABIES : Really very welcome here although please note there is a highchair yet no cot available so kindly pop a travel cot in the car.
