Wherever you go in the Cotswolds it's renowned for its dog friendliness. This is a lovely, gentle circular walk which takes from from the popular town of Boughton-in-the-Water to Lower Slaughter, on to Upper Slaughter, returning to Boughton. Although long, it's very relaxing walking along the bank of the River Eye, which flows through the villages of Lower and Upper Slaughter.

In Lower Slaughter you can Visit the Old Mill House, now a museum, to learn about the history of bread making and the internal workings of the mill, which reopened in 1995. The Riverside Tea Room and Terrace Cafe is close by where you can stop for something to eat, or enjoy a homemade ice cream. From here the path takes you to Upper Slaughter and then back to Boughton-in-the-Water, where you can relax again by the river to people (and dog) watch. There's also a shop selling award-winning Cotswolds Dry Gin and Cotswolds Single Malt Whisky.

This is a wonderfully meandering walk, especially on a beautiful summer's day which we were lucky enough to enjoy. Totally recommend The River Terrace Cafe where we had a delicious lunch followed by one of their homemade organic ice creams. As you can see from the image there was a little debate whether to turn left or right outside the gate so a map is always useful!
