Dodd Wood Forest Walk

This walk begins from the car park of the Old Sawmill Tearoom (small charge) and takes you up to the top of Dodd (1,612 ft), one of Wainwright's smallest fells, 4 kilometres north west of Keswick. It's not for the faint hearted as even the blue trail is tough in places, so while it's a short walk, don't be deceived as it will take around one to two and a half hours depending on your fitness. Most of the walks are through woodland, with steep inclines, but the summit is open with stunning views on a clear day. It's a really dog friendly trail, other than near the top where leads are advisable. Walks are available with forestry ranger. Please be aware that the cafe does not allow dogs inside, but there is some seating outside.

I've done this walk twice and it's one of the best views of the Lake District with the least effort. When I say least effort, I do mean in terms of time to get to the top, but it is super steep in places so you do need a good pair of walking boots and a little snack or two along the way. The dogs loved it and slept like kings in the evening.
