Whitby to Robin Hoods Bay

We recently stayed in Whitby with the two dogs and walked the circular route from Whitby to Robin Hood's Bay and back. You can park in the Abbey Car Park (there is a charge). Follow the path towards the sea keeping to the left of the Abbey, looking out for the Cleveland Way sign. Basically, you just start following the coastal path.

We were lucky with the weather and the views along the coast were spectacular. The path narrowed as we approached Robin Hood’s Bay, and we walked past a car park before reaching the town. There are plenty of eateries to replenish yourself for the return journey; you can either  go back the way you came, or follow the now disused railway path back to Whitby. This is signposted 'cinder track' and takes you through the lovely Yorkshire countryside.

It's 7 miles from Whitby to Robin Hood's Bay, so 14 in total if you do the round trip. It's a great day out, taking around six hours in total, not including the lunch stop. Alternatively, there is regular public transport back to Whitby.
